Yume Mizusawa
Description
Yume Mizusawa is a Japanese male author best known as the creator of the light novel series Gonna be the Twin-Tail!!, also known as Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu. His professional career began when his work received the judges’ special prize in the sixth Shogakukan Light Novel Awards. This recognition led to the debut of his signature series, which was first published by Shogakukan under its Gagaga Bunko imprint in June 2012.
The Gonna be the Twin-Tail!! light novel series, illustrated by Ayumu Kasuga, concluded in November 2022 after a publication run of over ten years, spanning a total of 22 volumes. The series is notable for being the first recipient of the Shogakukan Light Novel Award to receive an anime adaptation. Its central premise involves a male high school student with an extraordinary passion for twin-tail hairstyles who is granted the power to transform into a female warrior, Tail Red, to protect Earth from monsters that feed on human attributes.
The success of the light novels led to a multimedia expansion. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Ryōta Yuzuki, was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine from 2014 to 2015, with the collected volumes bearing the title Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu. Pai. An anime television series adaptation produced by Production IMS aired in Japan from October to December 2014. Following the conclusion of the original light novel series, Mizusawa collaborated again with illustrator Ryōta Yuzuki to launch a new manga titled KimiToku! Kimi ni mo Tokusatsu Eiga ga Toreru!! in January 2023, a comedy series centered on a high school tokusatsu film club.
Beyond his flagship series, Mizusawa’s body of work includes other light novel projects. He wrote the four-volume series 4 cours after, illustrated by bun150, which was published from 2015 to 2017. He also contributed novelizations for the SSSS.GRIDMAN franchise, releasing two volumes under the Gagaga Bunko imprint between 2019 and 2020. In 2025, he authored the official novel Mecha Ude ~ Another Trigger Arm ~, based on the Mecha Ude anime project.
