Sara Takatsuki

Description
Sara Takatsuki is a Japanese actress and former singer who is primarily known for her extensive work in live-action television and film, with a notable, though singular, foray into anime voice acting. She was born on August 10, 1997, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Discovered by a talent scout at the age of ten, she began her entertainment career in 2008 and is represented by the agency Sweet Power. Before focusing on acting, Takatsuki was a member of the female idol group bump.y from its formation in 2009 until her graduation from the group in 2014.

Takatsuki's most prominent and defining role in animation is providing the voice for the protagonist, Anna Sasaki, in the 2014 Studio Ghibli film When Marnie Was There. This performance marked her debut in voice acting. The film, directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, is an adaptation of the British children's novel and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Her casting in this high-profile project came as a result of a successful audition, with director Yonebayashi noting that her voice had a quality that made one want to hear it again. This role remains her sole major credit in anime, establishing her as a voice associated with a critically acclaimed, internationally recognized work.

Aside from her voice role in When Marnie Was There, Sara Takatsuki's career has been almost entirely focused on live-action performance. She has built a substantial resume with supporting and leading roles in numerous Japanese television dramas and films. Her television credits include appearances in series such as GTO (2012), Hell Teacher Nūbē (2014), Mirai e no 10 Count (2022), and the television film Black Board (2012). In film, she has starred in live-action features like The Werewolf Game: Crazy Fox (2015) and Defying Kurosaki-kun (2016). Given that her voice acting work is confined to this single, albeit significant, project, there are no documented recurring collaborations with specific anime directors, studios, or fellow voice actors beyond this one instance with Studio Ghibli and director Hiromasa Yonebayashi.
