Alaska

Description
Alaska, the stage name of Olvido Gara Jova, is a Spanish-Mexican singer, songwriter, and television personality who is primarily known for her extensive career in music as a member of various bands including Kiki d'Akí, Alaska y los Pegamoides, Alaska y Dinarama, and Fangoria. Her involvement in anime voice acting is a specific and limited aspect of her broader entertainment career.

In 2014, Alaska participated in the Spanish dubbing of the CGI anime film Stand By Me Doraemon. She provided the voice for the adult version of the character Shizuka Minamoto. This casting was notable as it paired her with her husband, singer and television personality Mario Vaquerizo, who voiced the adult Nobita Nobi. The decision to use the well-known couple for these roles generated discussion and some controversy among the series' fanbase, who held strong attachment to the characters' established voices, though it was clarified that their participation was specifically for the characters' adult forms and did not replace the regular child voice actors.

This was not Alaska's first experience with dubbing, having previously voiced a character in the Spanish version of the animated film Hotel Transylvania. In interviews promoting Stand By Me Doraemon, she expressed her long-standing affection for animation, citing classic Disney films, Hanna-Barbera productions, and influential anime such as Akira as part of her viewing history, and she noted a personal identification with the sensible nature of her character, Shizuka. Despite her enthusiasm for this project, she has stated that she does not consider herself a voice actor by profession, describing the experience as a special opportunity tied to her fondness for Japanese animation and the character. Her contribution to anime dubbing remains an isolated but high-profile event within her multifaceted career in the Spanish-speaking entertainment world.
