Marjolein Algera
Description
Marjolein Algera is a Dutch voice actress born on November 25, 1965, in Leiden, Netherlands. Her full name is Marjolein Caecilia Algera. She completed a directing education at the Toneelacademie in Maastricht in 1990. Her career encompasses not only voice acting but also work as a dialogue director for Dutch dubs of animated films, including projects for Disney, and as a writer for stage and television. She has also translated children's and youth books.
Algera is known for her extensive work providing Dutch voices for characters in numerous anime series and films. She voiced the character Mewtwo in several Pokémon productions, including the special Mewtwo ~Kakusei e no Prologue~ and the film Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened. Her other notable roles in the Pokémon franchise include Sabrina, Jasmine, and Andrea in the television series, as well as Lisa in Pokémon 3: The Movie.
Beyond Pokémon, her anime dubbing credits are wide-ranging. She provided the Dutch voice for Amy (Sailor Mercury) in Sailor Moon, Manta in Shaman King, and multiple characters in Yu-Gi-Oh!, including Ishizu Ishtar and Serenity Wheeler. She also voiced Cody in Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, and was the voice of the title character in Pecola. In the long-running series Shin Chan, she is known for the role of Juf Dori (Miss Dori). Her voice work extends to other animated series as well, such as Kitty in Hello Kitty, Karin in Medabots, and Blair Flannigan in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX.
Algera's career also includes voice roles in non-anime productions. She voiced Petunia in the Dutch version of the Harry Potter films and has been the voice of Rosita on Sesamstraat, the Dutch co-production of Sesame Street. Her other voice work spans characters in series like As Told by Ginger, Teletubbies, and Bear in the Big Blue House. She has also lent her voice to video game characters, including Coco Bandicoot in Crash Nitro Kart and Verdriet (Sadness) in Disney Infinity 3.0.
