Meme Higashiya is a Japanese manga artist known primarily for her work in the yonkoma, or four-panel comic, format. She was born on April 15 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, and is female. Her career as a professional manga artist began after she won an encouragement prize in the 12th Takeshobo Manga Newcomer Awards. Prior to her debut, she worked in advertising design. Her first published work, Please Make a Contract with Me!, appeared in Manga Life Original in 2006.

Higashiya is best known as the creator of Recorder and Randsell, also known as Recorder and Backpack. This manga series, which began serialization in 2008, follows the comedic lives of two siblings: Atsushi, an elementary school boy who has the appearance of a grown adult, and his older sister Atsumi, a high school girl who looks like a young child. The series is a slice-of-life comedy that derives much of its humor from the frequent misunderstandings caused by their contrasting appearances. The manga has been published by Takeshobo and has run across several of their magazines, including Manga Club Original and Manga Life Original.
