Yasuhisa Kubo, whose name is also written in its original Japanese form as 久保保久, is a Japanese manga artist born in March 1980 in Osaka Prefecture. He began his professional career in the manga industry in 2002 when, at the age of 22, his submission for the 42nd Chiba Tetsuya Award received an honorable mention. He continued to develop his craft, and in 2004, his work "The Secret of Professor Urushibara" won the 45th Chiba Tetsuya Award. Following these early successes, Kubo moved to Tokyo and gained experience as an assistant to the manga artist Nihonbashi Yoko.

Kubo is the original creator of the manga series You're Being Summoned, Azazel, known in Japanese as Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san. This series, which became his major debut and signature work, was serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Evening from October 2007 to December 2018. The complete manga was collected into sixteen tankobon volumes. The story is a comedy that revolves around demons and angels, following a detective who summons devils to help solve cases, leading to a variety of vulgar and absurd situations.

The success of the manga led to multiple anime adaptations. Before the television series, original animation DVDs were produced, with the first released in February 2010 and bundled with special editions of the manga volumes. The first television anime series, titled You're Being Summoned, Azazel, aired in Japan from April to July 2011, consisting of 13 episodes. A second season, You're Being Summoned, Azazel Z, followed from April to June 2013, also with 13 episodes. Both anime series were produced by the studio Production I.G and directed by Tsutomu Mizushima.

Kubo's artistic identity is strongly defined by his work on You're Being Summoned, Azazel. The series is noted for its brand of irreverent and dark humor, often featuring morally ambiguous characters and graphic comedy. The narrative commonly involves demons representing the seven deadly sins, using their absurd powers in mundane or perverse ways, which creates a distinctive comedic tone that sets the work apart from more conventional supernatural or comedy manga.
