HERO

Description
HERO is the original creator behind the anime and manga series Horimiya. The creator's real name is Hiroki Adachi, and their birthday is May 10. HERO graduated from JAM Japan Anime Manga College in 2008, and after graduation worked at a design company in Tokyo, contributing to merchandise and package cover designs for prominent anime franchises. HERO is the author of the original webcomic Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, which began as a self-published, four-panel series on a personal website in February 2007 and concluded in December 2011. The series was later published in print by Square Enix, with its chapters compiled into ten volumes. This original webcomic served as the foundation for the later manga remake and anime adaptations.

The Horimiya manga, which is a remake of the original webcomic, was created with HERO as the story author and Daisuke Hagiwara as the artist. It was serialized in Monthly G Fantasy, and HERO has stated that the publisher initially approached them about creating a remake of the original work. In this collaboration, HERO provided supervision and reviewed each chapter, while allowing Hagiwara significant creative freedom with the instruction to draw in the way easiest for them, as long as the story and setting did not stray too far from the original. The remake ran until 2021, concluding with 16 volumes. HERO also continued publishing additional side-story chapters for the original series under the title Hori-san to Miyamura-kun Omake.

The property has seen multiple adaptations. Several original video animations (OVAs) were produced based on the original webcomic starting in 2012. A television anime adaptation of the Horimiya manga was produced by the studio CloverWorks and aired in 2021. A second anime season, subtitled Horimiya -piece-, which adapted stories not featured in the first season, was later released in 2023. HERO has also created other manga works, including Asao-san to Kurata-kun, which began serialization on the GANGAN ONLINE website in 2008, and has published short story collections such as 7 and Lies Online.
