She was born in the Bronx, New York, and moved to Columbus, Ohio, at the age of eight. Her early interest in the performing arts was fostered at Fort Hayes Performing Arts High School in Columbus, where she studied theatre and music, playing the trumpet. She continued her training at the University of Southern California's School of Theatre, graduating cum laude. After initially working in stage and on-screen acting, she transitioned to focus on a career in voiceover.

Her voice acting credits include a range of characters in animation and video games. She provided the voice for the character Double in the fighting game Skullgirls, a role she was approached for by the game's audio director. In a notable achievement, she voiced Princess Styla in the Nintendo game The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, marking the first time a princess in the main series of the franchise was given a speaking role in that era.
