Takanori Kawai

Description
Takanori Kawai is a Japanese manga artist and original creator, born on July 27, 1984 in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. His work is primarily associated with the publisher Shueisha, for whom he created the manga series Sekiei Ayakashi Mangatan.

Kawai is best known as the sole author and illustrator of Sekiei Ayakashi Mangatan, a historical supernatural manga that began serialization in 2010. The series was initially published on the website of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine before being compiled into eleven tankobon volumes, with the complete run concluding on November 22, 2012. The story is set during the middle of Japan's Edo period and follows Toriyama Sekiei, an eccentric but brilliant artist who draws supernatural creatures based on his actual encounters with them.

In 2012, Kawai's original manga was adapted into a three-episode original net anime, also titled Sekiei Ayakashi Mangatan. The ONA was streamed on the Weekly Young Jump website, with episodes released between February 2 and March 1, 2012. Each episode had a runtime of approximately five minutes. For this adaptation, Kawai is officially credited as the original creator. The story of the anime follows the same premise as the manga, focusing on the artist Sekiei as he uses his unique brush, made from the blonde hair of a millenary creature named Keukegen, to combat demons and help people afflicted by curses.

Information about Kawai's career outside of this single title remains limited, and Sekiei Ayakashi Mangatan stands as his primary verified contribution to the manga and anime industry.
