Akiyoshi Ohta

Description
Akiyoshi Ohta is a Japanese creator known for providing the original story and concept for several manga series, many of which have been published in Monthly Comic Alive magazine. Ohta typically collaborates with a separate artist who handles the illustrations for these projects.

One of Ohta's credited works is Asa made Jugyō Chu!, a school romantic comedy manga that began serialization in Monthly Comic Alive in 2008. The story follows a male student who, after being mistakenly placed in a girls' dormitory, must disguise himself as a girl to avoid expulsion. The artist for this series was Munyū, and the manga was compiled into three tankōbon volumes published by Media Factory. This manga was later adapted into a single-episode original video anime (OVA) in 2012, produced by the animation studio GoHands and directed by Hiromitsu Kanazawa.

In addition to Asa made Jugyō Chu!, Ohta has created the stories for several other manga series. Honoka Lv. Up! was released in English by Broccoli Books, featuring art by MATSUDA98. In March 2019, Ohta launched the manga Ore no Tomodachi ga Kawaisugite Komaru! (My Friend is So Cute it's Causing Trouble!) with artist Ataru Shunkatō. Shortly after, in July 2019, Ohta began the series Boku ga Yūsha de Maō mo Boku de (I Am the Hero, and the Demon King Is Also Me), a comedy about a hero who travels between a Japanese living room and another world, with art by Tatsuya Endō.

Ohta's body of work often centers on comedy genres, frequently incorporating elements of romantic entanglements, gender dynamics, and fantasy settings. The consistent adaptation of Ohta's manga into other media, such as the OVA for Asa made Jugyō Chu!, along with the international publication of series like Honoka Lv. Up!, highlights a recognizable presence within the manga industry as a source creator for lighthearted and concept-driven serialized stories.
