Machiko Kawana is a Japanese voice actress born on September 30, 1983, in Tokyo, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. Kawana began her career in the mid-2000s, with her earliest roles dating back to 2004 and 2005 in productions such as the video game Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana and the anime series Speed Grapher.

Kawana is best known for her leading role as Kaoru Matsubara, the voice of the superheroine Powered Buttercup, in the 2006 anime series Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z. This series, a Japanese reimagining of the American cartoon The Powerpuff Girls, was a significant early credit that helped establish her in the industry. In addition to voicing one of the three main characters, she also portrayed a secondary character named Kako within the same series.

Beyond this signature role, Kawana has built a diverse portfolio of voice work in anime, video games, and OVA productions. Her filmography includes roles in several notable anime television series. She voiced the character Botan, the pet boar, in the acclaimed adaptation of the visual novel Clannad and its sequel Clannad After Story.
