Saori Kato is a Japanese voice actor affiliated with the talent agency Accent. She was born on May 5th in Nagano Prefecture. Her path to voice acting was non-traditional; during her university years, she was a member of the same children's culture研究 group as future animation director Goro Miyazaki. After graduating, she initially worked as an elementary school teacher before deciding to pursue a career in voice acting. Her training included time at the Baobabu Gakuen (now Visual Space Actor's Training School) as part of its 10th generation, and she was formerly affiliated with Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society and Moana Factory before joining Accent. Her voice is classified as alto.

Kato has built a career with a wide range of roles in anime, video games, and foreign language dubbing. In anime, she is known for her role as Esal, the Reverend of Teachers at Kazalm, in the 2009 series The Beast Player Erin, based on the novel by Nahoko Uehashi. Her other notable anime roles include Karen Low in the action series Jormungand and its second season Jormungand Perfect Order, Origa in Gunslinger Girl -IL TEATRINO-, a bird woman in Ronja the Robber's Daughter, and Charlotte Branmange, the academy headmaster, in Assassins Pride. She also had early roles in series such as Boogiepop Phantom and BLOOD+. Her film work includes a role in the animated film Tansu Warashi.

Beyond anime, a substantial portion of Kato's work is in voice-over for foreign films and television series. Her dubbing credits are extensive and include a variety of roles. She voiced Freyja in the video game Too Human and provided voices for OVA projects like Battle Fairy Yukikaze and Hellsing. In dubbing, her roles include Kristine Kellerman in the Japanese dub of Prison Break, Amber in Clueless, and Yun in the Chinese historical drama The Story of Yanxi Palace. She has also dubbed performances by actors such as Emma Thompson in The Love Punch and Frances Fisher in Private Practice.

Throughout her career, Kato has collaborated with specific industry professionals on multiple occasions. Notably, she has worked several times with scriptwriter Kurosawa Hiroshi and fellow voice actor Matsukawa Masaya, particularly on projects like Jormungand. In addition to her performance work, she contributes to the next generation of talent by serving as a lecturer for the voice actor course at Hokkaido Arts High School's Tokyo Ikebukuro Satellite Campus. Her personal interests include practicing tai chi, and she has a skill for storytelling aloud.
