Maki Terashima-Furuta
Description
Maki Terashima-Furuta is a Japanese entertainment industry professional best known for her executive role at the anime production company Production I.G, where she has also taken on occasional voice acting work. She was born on January 11, 1971. Her primary career is in production and management; she founded Production I.G.USA in 1997 and currently serves as its President. In this capacity, she has overseen the development, production, and distribution of numerous high-profile projects, including animated and live-action works such as Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, and the live-action Ghost in the Shell film. Her extensive producer and executive producer credits span notable anime series and films, including FLCL, Love Hina, Blood: The Last Vampire, IGPX, B: The Beginning, Castlevania, Fena: Pirate Princess, and the 2024 anime adaptation of Junji Ito's Uzumaki.
While her primary profession is production, Terashima-Furuta has contributed her voice to a limited number of anime projects, often in connection with her production work. A notable example is the 2009 film Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror, where she voiced the character Miho in the English-language dub. Her involvement with this Production I.G film extended beyond voice acting, as she also served as an executive producer on the project. This pattern of combining production and performance is also evident in the 2023 series FLCL: Grunge, a sequel in the FLCL franchise on which she worked as a producer. In the English dub of that series, she provided the voices for two characters: a cat named Takkun and a character identified as Fish.
