Jorge Vasconcelos is a veteran Brazilian voice actor and dubbing director, with a career spanning several decades. He was born Jorge José Vasconcellos Paulo on February 21, 1957, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began his career in the 1980s and gained significant recognition in 1996 for voicing the character Bum Defora in the cartoons Cow and Chicken and I Am Weasel.

Vasconcelos has an extensive portfolio of voice work in animation, live-action series, and films. He is particularly well-known within the anime community for his role as the Shinigami Ryuk in the Portuguese dub of the anime Death Note, a performance that earned him nominations for Best Supporting Voice Actor and Best Dubbing Direction at the Prêmio Yamato in 2009. His other notable anime roles include Professor Sakata in Ghost Stories, Dr. Klunk in Metropolis, and, as noted, the voice of the eccentric alien scientist Jumba Jookiba in the anime series Stitch!. He has also voiced characters in The Seven Deadly Sins.

In addition to his work on Japanese anime, Vasconcelos has voiced a vast array of characters in American animation. Some of his most prominent roles include the Evil Emperor Zurg in the Portuguese dubs of various productions, the Ice King in Adventure Time, Dr. Animal and other characters across the Ben 10 franchise, Verminous Snaptrap in T.U.F.F. Puppy, and Dim in A Bug's Life. He also provided the voice for the character Emil in the film Corpse Bride.

Beyond performing, Jorge Vasconcelos is an accomplished dubbing director. He served as the dubbing director for the Portuguese versions of several major titles. Notably, he directed the dubbing for Death Note, where he also voiced Ryuk, as well as for The Powerpuff Girls Z, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, the film Metropolis, and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. His work has been recognized with industry awards; in 2007, he won an "Oscar de Dublagem" (Dubbing Oscar), the Prêmio Yamato, for Best Supporting Voice Actor for his role as Principal Pixiefrog in My Gym Partner's a Monkey.
