Louis LIII Yamada
Description
Louis LIII Yamada is a Japanese entertainer primarily known for being half of the manzai comedy duo Hige Danshaku, which translates to The Bearded Baron. Within the duo, he performs as the tsukkomi, the straight man to his partner's comedic folly. His stage persona is that of a French-born Japanese nobleman, a theme central to the duo's comedy routines. He is represented by the entertainment company Sun Music Productions.
His birth name is Junzo Yamada, and he was born on April 10, 1975, in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. His comedic persona's biography, however, is a playful fabrication, claiming he was born on the Champs-Élysées in Paris and attended the Sorbonne university.
While his primary career is in comedy, Louis LIII Yamada has also taken on acting roles, most notably in voice acting for anime and live-action tokusatsu productions. His most prominent voice role is that of General Vamp in the anime series Tentai Senshi Sunred. He and his comedy partner, Higuchi-kun, were both cast in the show, with Higuchi-kun voicing the character Combat Goon Number 1. The anime, a comedy spoofing Japanese superhero shows, began airing in October 2008. His performance as the villainous General Vamp is his most recognized work in animation.
Expanding into live-action acting, Yamada began appearing in a regular role on the long-running Super Sentai series Tensou Sentai Goseiger. This tokusatsu series, which is part of the Power Rangers franchise, featured him in a recurring acting capacity, further demonstrating his range beyond comedy and voice work. He also appeared in the 2010 film adaptation of the video game Kenka Bancho, titled Gekijô ban kenka banchô: Zenkoku seiha.
Through his work in Tentai Senshi Sunred, Louis LIII Yamada collaborated with his comedy partner Higuchi-kun. This partnership extends beyond the anime, as they have also worked together as spokesmen for Sumitomo Realty & Development. His achievements are thus interwoven with his success as a comedian, with his foray into voice acting and television representing a natural extension of his performance career into scripted roles, both animated and live-action.
