Gunma Kisaragi
Description
Gunma Kisaragi is a Japanese manga artist known for creating works in both adult and general-audience genres. The creator debuted professionally in 2004, winning an honorable mention in a contest hosted by Core Magazine with the work Somero! Tenkosei, which was published in the magazine Comic Megastore. Prior to this professional debut, Kisaragi began participating in the Comiket convention in August 2003, releasing doujinshi (self-published works) under the circle name G’s studio.
The artist’s first compiled book, Love Selection, was released in July 2006 as a collection of stories originally serialized in Comic Megastore and its sister publication Comic Megastore H between 2004 and 2006. This work was subsequently adapted into a two-part original video animation (OVA) titled Love Selection ~THE ANIMATION~, which was released in 2008. Following this, Kisaragi published several other tankobon (collected volumes) through Core Magazine, including Giri Giri Sisters in 2007, Mai Favorite in 2009, and Sweethearts in 2011. The artist later moved to Wani Magazine’s Comic X-Eros, where works such as Tokoharusō e Yōkoso (2013) and Suki ni Nattara Itchokusen! (2015) were released.
In addition to original works, Kisaragi has contributed to anthology projects. Notably, the artist participated in the Amagami: Various Artists series for several volumes, creating illustrations and short manga chapters based on that franchise. Starting in August 2017, Kisaragi began serializing Renai Shiko Seitokai in the magazine Bessatsu Young Champion, marking the creator’s first long-form work for a general-audience publication.
Kisaragi’s artistic identity is closely associated with school-based settings and harem narratives, often presented within a framework of exaggerated or fantastical scenarios where social norms around sexuality are uniquely structured. The creator’s art style is characterized by clean lines and a focus on expressive depictions of characters, with a noted evolution from a focus on more robust figures to slender, sleek designs over time. Thematically, Kisaragi’s work often blends elements of romantic comedy with eroticism, typically maintaining a tone described as light and without heavy dramatic darkness, which has contributed to a consistent readership within the genre. The creator’s body of work is noted for its focus on group dynamics and orchestrated ensemble scenes, and the artist is recognized for a signature approach to erotic direction that prioritizes a polished aesthetic.
