Manimani Ononata

Description
Manimani Ononata is a Japanese novelist known for creating numerous light novel series, many of which have been adapted into manga. The author is a member of the Mystery Writers of Japan and has been active since approximately 2015. Ononata has written extensively in the isekai and fantasy genres, producing works that range from lighthearted family adventures to dark revenge thrillers.

Ononata is the original creator of the light novel series I Lost My Adventurer's License, but It's Fine Because I Have an Adorable Daughter Now. This series began as a web novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2017. The first light novel volume was published by SB Creative under its GA Novel imprint in August 2018, with illustrations by Fuzichoco. The story follows Douglas, a once-legendary magician who, after losing his adventurer's license, begins a new life as a vagabond and adopts a cursed girl named Rabi. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Fumi Tadaura, began serialization on Square Enix's Manga UP! service in November 2018. In January 2026, the light novel series was announced to be receiving a television anime adaptation.

Another significant work by Ononata is Fukushū o Koinegau Saikyō Yūsha wa, Yami no Chikara de Senmetsu Musō Suru, often shortened to The Brave Wish Revenging. This dark fantasy series was first published online on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in October 2018 but was quickly taken down due to its depiction of extreme violence. The light novel was later picked up by Shueisha, beginning print publication in February 2019 with illustrations by Kōya. The story centers on Raoul Evans, a hero who, after being falsely accused of a crime, tortured, and sentenced to death, resurrects with dark powers to exact brutal revenge on everyone who betrayed him. A manga adaptation illustrated by Akira Sakamoto launched concurrently with the light novel in February 2019 and has been published in English by Delcourt in France under the Tonkam imprint.

The author's body of work is extensive, including over a dozen light novel series. Other titles include the pure love story I will love you even after death, death, death, death, which was published in 2016, and the fantasy series The Six-Year-Old Sage Walks the Path of Shadows, which ran from 2018 to 2025. Ononata has also written works in various sub-genres, such as the romantic comedy Can I be spoiled by my doting wife? and the villainess-themed title Your Highness, May I Have a Word? It is... Before You Break Off Our Engagement for Calling Me an Incompetent Villainess, Allow Me to Expose Your Wrongdoings!

Ononata's writing demonstrates a wide range, from wholesome found-family narratives to mature, violent revenge stories. This versatility is noted in profiles, which state the author's preferences include both daily life and pure love stories as well as works with restrictive and mature content. This diversity is reflected in the creator's bibliography, which includes both the gentle I Lost My Adventurer's License and the notoriously graphic The Brave Wish Revenging. The announcement of the anime adaptation for I Lost My Adventurer's License in early 2026 marks a significant milestone in Ononata's career, bringing one of the author's most prominent series to a wider audience.
