Denden
Description
Denden is the stage name of Yoshihiro Ogata, a Japanese actor born on January 23, 1950. He is primarily known for his extensive and prolific career in live-action film and television, having appeared in over one hundred films since his debut in 1981. His work includes notable films such as Cure, Eureka, Cold Fish, and The Forest of Love, as well as television dramas like the NHK asadora Amachan and the long-running series Emergency Interrogation Room.
Denden's entry into voice acting came relatively late in his career. In 2015, at the age of 65, he took on his first voice-acting role, playing a fictionalized version of himself in a flash anime series titled Gokudō Sakaba Denden ~Gokudō Daisensō Gaiden~, a spinoff of the live-action film Yakuza Apocalypse. His stage name is partially derived from the Japanese word for snail, dendenmushi, a motif that was incorporated into his character for both the film and the anime series.
More recently, Denden has expanded his voice-acting portfolio. In 2022, he voiced the character Usazō Usagibayashi in the animated film A Turtle's Shell Is a Human's Ribs. This role, alongside his earlier work, represents a growing, though still limited, body of work in anime and animation. Information on recurring collaborations with specific directors or other notable achievements within the voice acting industry remains unavailable, as his career is overwhelmingly defined by his live-action performances.
