Description
Shunsuke Kazama is a Japanese actor and voice actor born on June 17, 1983, in Tokyo, Japan. His career has since spanned live-action television, film, stage, and voice acting.
Kazama's entry into voice acting occurred in 2000 when he was cast as the protagonist Yūgi Mutō and his counterpart Yami Yugi in the long-running anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. Beyond the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, Kazama has taken on other significant voice roles in animation. In 2011, he voiced the character Shirō Mizunuma in the Studio Ghibli film From Up On Poppy Hill, directed by Goro Miyazaki. His performance contributed to the ensemble cast of this acclaimed animated feature.
While voice acting is a notable part of his portfolio, Kazama's career is primarily rooted in live-action performance. He gained early recognition for his role in the television drama Kinpachi-sensei in 1999, for which he won the Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix award for Best Newcomer.
