Tetsurō Sayama is an original creator known for his work in manga, particularly as the writer of the graphic novel Kokurikozaka kara. This work serves as the source material for the acclaimed 2011 Studio Ghibli animated film From Up on Poppy Hill. Sayama is credited as the author of the story, which was illustrated by Chizuru Takahashi. The manga was originally published in 1980, decades before its adaptation into an animated feature. For the film adaptation, the screenplay was written by Hayao Miyazaki and Keiko Niwa, with Goro Miyazaki serving as director.
