Yūko Kurose
Description
Yūko Kurose is a Japanese voice actress affiliated with the talent agency VIMS. She was born on May 7 in Hiroshima Prefecture. Kurose is a graduate of Hiroshima Jogakuin Junior & Senior High School and Kwansei Gakuin University. During her university years, she attended the Osaka branch of the Japan Narration Actor Institute, transferring to the Tokyo branch after graduating.
Her inspiration to become a voice actor came from listening to a drama CD for the series Hoshin Engi and from her activities in her school's broadcasting club. While in high school, she attended a CD release event in Hiroshima where she met voice actress Sakura Nogawa, who complimented her voice, further solidifying Kurose's ambition. She also cited that having the late voice actress Miyu Matsuki as a senior at her school was an encouragement to pursue this career path.
Before fully committing to voice acting, Kurose worked at a toy company while also performing in the industry. She left that position after being cast in a live concert for the game Tokyo 7th Sisters, deciding to focus entirely on her voice acting career.
One of her first major roles was as Qruit Kotobuki in the video game Tokyo 7th Sisters in 2014. In 2016, she was cast in a main role as Kōko Nosa in the anime television series High School Fleet, a character she would reprise in subsequent OVAs and a film. Her other notable anime roles include Sotoka Rakita in Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu in 2019, for which she also performed the series' opening theme song, and Kumakyū, one of the summoned bear companions of the protagonist, in Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear in 2020.
Beyond anime, Kurose has voiced characters in numerous video games, including roles such as Maki Kurosawa in Heaven Burns Red, Click in Arknights, Annie in Destiny Child, and continuing her role as Qruit Kotobuki in the Tokyo 7th Sisters franchise. She also contributed to the digital comic for 15-sai, Kyou kara Doukyo Hajimemasu as the character Anri Fukagawa.
Kurose speaks the Hiroshima dialect. Her personal interests include watching Takarazuka Revue performances and boat racing, and her special skill is goldfish scooping. In October 2022, she announced her marriage and the birth of her first child.
