Himawari Hyūga

Description
Himawari Hyūga is a Japanese storyteller and former voice actor, known professionally as a kodanshi. She was born on February 12, 1975, in Hiroshima Prefecture. Initially aspiring to be a voice actor, she studied at a broadcasting college in Tokyo. However, after being deeply impressed by a performance of traditional storytelling, she changed her career path and entered the world of kodan storytelling in 1994.

Her voice acting credits are limited to the early period of her career before she fully committed to storytelling. She is specifically recognized for providing the voice of Run-chan in the long-running anime series Oyako Club. She was the first voice actor for this character, a role she performed during the show's initial run. Her other anime roles include parts in two Crayon Shin-chan spin-off specials, Crayon Shin-chan Special: The Festival Is Full! and Crayon Shin-chan Special: The Magic Diary of Promise.

After this brief foray into anime voice work, Hyūga focused entirely on her career as a kodanshi. She became a professional storyteller, performing classical tales in traditional male attire. She achieved the highest rank of shin'uchi in 2008 and has since received various awards and appointments, including serving as a goodwill ambassador for her hometown. Her work as a voice actor remains a minor footnote in a career dedicated to the preservation and performance of traditional Japanese narrative arts.
