Ryūta Amadume
Description
Ryūta Amadume is a Japanese manga artist born in 1974. He began his career creating adult manga under several pen names, including A・浪漫・我慢 and Eromangaman, before transitioning to serialized work in youth-oriented magazines. He is a graduate of Waseda University, where he was a member of the university’s manga club.
Amadume made his major debut in 2001 with the series Toshiue no Hito, a romance comedy published in Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine. He is credited as the original creator of the anime Kimi no Na o Yobeba, which was released as a two-episode original video animation between 2008 and 2009. The source material for this anime was a manga of the same title, which was originally published in 2003.
Several of his works have been adapted into other media. The manga Nana to Kaoru received an original video animation in 2011, as well as two live-action film adaptations. His series Toshiue no Hito and Happy Negative Marriage were both adapted into direct-to-video live-action dramas.
A consistent element of Amadume’s artistic identity is his focus on romance comedy narratives that incorporate adult or erotic themes. His works frequently explore relationships between young adults, often with a comedic or touching tone. His notable titles include the long-running series Nana to Kaoru, as well as Happy Negative Marriage, Toshiue no Hito, and Bura Girl.
In the industry, Amadume is recognized as a veteran creator whose career began in the late 1990s. He is noted for successfully moving from adult comics to mainstream seinen manga, building a reputation for his work in the ero-comedy genre.
