The creator known as Hifumi is the original author of the light novel series The Eternal Fool's Words of Wisdom. This series began as a web novel, which Hifumi serialized on the user-generated content website Shōsetsuka ni Narō from January 2015 to September 2019. The success of the web novel led to a print publication, with the first light novel volume released in September 2015 by Taibundo Publishing, featuring illustrations by Kurihito Mutō. The light novel series concluded after fourteen volumes in December 2019.

The property has since expanded into a manga adaptation, which is authored by Fuh Araki. This manga began serialization in Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star website in April 2017. The English version of the manga is published by J-Novel Club under the title The Eternal Fool's Words of Wisdom: A Pawsitively Fantastic Adventure. In February 2026, it was announced that the novels are inspiring a television anime adaptation, announced by Bushiroad Move. The story follows Asley, an eternally youthful sorcerer who, after two thousand years of solitude accompanied only by his level one hundred dog familiar Pochi, decides to re-enter society to restore his reputation.
