Scott Menville

Description
Scott Menville is an American actor and voice actor with a career spanning from the late 1970s to the present. While his voice is widely recognized from numerous Western animated series, his work in anime, though less extensive, includes notable roles in English-language dubs of the 1990s and 2000s.

Born in Malibu, California, in 1971, Menville began his acting career as a child performer, with his first voice role coming in 1979. He is the son of television animator and writer Chuck Menville. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Menville established himself as a prolific voice actor in American animation, with major roles including the voice of Jonny Quest in The New Adventures of Jonny Quest, Ma-Ti in Captain Planet and the Planeteers, and Red Herring in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.

Menville's involvement in English-dubbed anime includes two prominent credits from the 1990s and 2000s. In the 1994 OVA series Tekkaman Blade II, the sequel to the original Tekkaman Blade, he provided the English voice for the character Hayato. This role placed him within the cast of one of the many sci-fi anime series being localized for the North American market during that decade.

A decade later, Menville took on a lead role in the English dub of the acclaimed 2006 anime film Tekkonkinkreet. Directed by Michael Arias and animated by Studio 4°C, the film tells the story of two orphaned street kids, Black and White, who protect their city from yakuza and other threats. Menville voiced the character Black, the older, more aggressive and protective of the pair. The English-language version of the film featured a cast of experienced voice actors, including several, like Menville, who were associated with the dubbing direction of Jack Fletcher.

Outside of these specific anime roles, Menville's most defining and long-running voice performance is that of Robin/Nightwing in the DC Comics animated universe. He first originated the role in the 2003 series Teen Titans and has continued to voice the character in various spin-offs, sequels, and films for over two decades, most notably in the comedic series Teen Titans Go!. His other extensive voice work spans popular video games, such as Lloyd Irving in Tales of Symphonia, and numerous other animated series like Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and The 7D.

In addition to his voice acting, Menville is also a musician. He was a founding member and bassist for the Southern California rock band Boy Hits Car, performing with them from their inception until 2006. He has also maintained a career in live-action television, with guest appearances on shows such as Full House, The Wonder Years, and The Mentalist.
