Description
Kate T. Vogt is an American actress known for her work in theater, television, and anime voiceovers. Born Kathryn Ann Vogt in Kankakee, Illinois, she is the eldest of eight children in an Irish Catholic family. She graduated from Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater before moving to California to study and perform at the Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts in Santa Maria. Upon joining the actors' union, she changed her professional name to K.T. Vogt to be considered for both male and female roles. Her early career in Los Angeles included performing with the sketch comedy group Monkey Planet and acting in various theater productions, including at South Coast Repertory. In 2008, she moved to Ashland, Oregon, where she became a company member at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, performing in fourteen consecutive seasons.

Vogt is most recognized in anime for providing the English voice of the character Washu Hakubi across the long-running Tenchi Muyo! franchise. Her work as the self-proclaimed greatest scientific genius in the universe began with the original Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA series and continued in numerous sequels and spin-offs, including Tenchi Muyo! Tenchi Universe, Magical Project S, and multiple theatrical films such as Tenchi Muyo! in Love and Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu no Eve. In some of the earliest English adaptations of the OVA series, she was credited under the pseudonym Gee Gee Loo Loo. Beyond the Tenchi Muyo! franchise, her anime voice credits include roles in the English adaptations of other prominent 1990s series, such as Ifurita in El-Hazard: The Wanderers, a role in the English dub of Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, and a part in Cowboy Bebop.

In addition to standard voice acting, Vogt contributed her vocal talents to the soundtrack of the 1997 cyberpunk OVA Psycho Diver: Soul Siren. For the English-language adaptation of this project, she performed the opening theme song, Warefare-Beware, and the ending theme, The End, providing the singing voice for the character Yuki.

Vogt's career is marked by recurring collaborations with a consistent group of voice actors and directors in the anime dubbing industry, particularly on the various Tenchi Muyo! projects. She frequently worked alongside actors such as Sherry Lynn, Matt Miller, Jennifer Darling, and Wendee Lee, and was often directed by Jack Fletcher, who also directed the English adaptation of Psycho Diver. Her work was not limited to animation; her live-action television and film appearances include roles in Doc Hollywood, Conspiracy Theory, The Puppet Masters, and episodes of Ellen and The Tom Show. Her achievements in theater have been recognized with awards from Dramalogue and L.A. Weekly, as well as the Falstaff award.
