Akira Mii is a Japanese manga artist born on April 26, 1963, in Mie Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from Mie Takada High School, where he established a manga club and served as its first president, he moved to Tokyo and enrolled in Tokyo Designer Gakuin, though he later withdrew from the institution. He subsequently gained experience working as an assistant and designer before beginning his professional career as a creator.

Mii is known for working across different genres under distinct pseudonyms. Under the name Sae Akira, he created general-market works, including the manga Fūin Toshi, published by Akita Shoten in 1989. Under his primary name, Akira Mii, he produced numerous works intended for an adult audience, with much of this output appearing in various adult-oriented magazines during the late 1980s through the early 2000s.

Among his most recognized works is the manga series Lunatic Night, which was published by Mediax in three volumes from 1992 to 1994. This series served as the original source material for a three-episode original video animation (OVA) also titled Lunatic Night, released between September 1996 and September 1997. The anime adaptation carries a credit for Akira Mii as the original creator. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world and features themes of human survival and conflict.

Other notable works under the Akira Mii name include the one-volume manga No Step, Nightmare, and Kotodama, all published in 1989 and 1990, as well as the three-volume series Lilith and the two-volume series Mugen Kyōkan from the mid-1990s. His creative output during this period consistently focused on the adult-oriented manga genre.

According to information from his personal website, Akira Mii later returned to his family home in Mie Prefecture to focus on his health and is no longer actively engaged in creating manga.
