João Loy is a Portuguese actor, voice actor, and theatre director, widely recognized for his long-standing role as the voice of Vegeta in the Portuguese dubs of the Dragon Ball anime series. Born João Eduardo Nunes da Conceição on December 18, 1961, in Elvas, Portugal, he has built a multifaceted career spanning television, film, theatre, and voice work.

His most prominent and enduring voice role is that of Vegeta, the Prince of the Saiyans, a character he first voiced in the Portuguese dub of Dragon Ball Z. Loy provided the voice for Vegeta from the character's introduction up to episode 133 of Dragon Ball Z. He later returned to the role for the entirety of Dragon Ball GT. Decades after his initial work, he reprised the role once more for the first 104 episodes of Dragon Ball Super and, in 2019, for the theatrical film Dragon Ball Super: Broly. His association with the character spanned approximately 25 years, making it a defining part of his career. In a 2019 interview, Loy stated that Dragon Ball Super: Broly marked the end of his involvement with the franchise, citing creative and professional differences with the production process.

Beyond Vegeta, Loy's voice work within the Dragon Ball franchise is extensive. He also voiced other recurring characters, including Mr. Satan, as well as characters like Krillin, Zamasu, and various villains across different series and films. His voice acting portfolio also includes roles in other animated series and video games. He is known for voicing the character Dimitri Lousteau in the Portuguese localizations of the Sly Cooper video game series, including Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Other voice roles include the Triton in The Adventures of the Little Mermaid, Sammy in Kangoo, and Wally Walrus in The Woody Woodpecker Show.

Loy's professional background is deeply rooted in the performing arts. In addition to his voice work, he has had an extensive career as a stage actor and director. He has acted in numerous Portuguese television series and films since the 1990s. He also founded a cultural production company, Há Cultura, in 1999 and inaugurated the Teatro Há-de-ver in Lisbon in 2002, where he directed and staged numerous theatrical productions.
