Description
Shingo Kuwana, born in 1968, is a Japanese game creator, animation producer, and planner known for his foundational work at the game company Idea Factory. He has served as the representative director of Idea Factory and is also associated with the company Compile Heart. Kuwana is not a voice actor, and no voice acting roles have been documented in his professional credits.
Kuwana is most recognized as an original creator and producer for numerous original video animations produced during the late 1990s and 2000s. His work frequently involves adapting and expanding video game properties into anime format, often working on fantasy and science fiction titles. As the user notes, one prominent example is the OVA series Spectral Force, released in two episodes between 1998 and 1999, for which he is credited as both the original creator and producer. The series is set in a fantasy world called Neverland and follows a conflict between humans and demons.
Beyond Spectral Force, Kuwana has been credited as the original creator or original planner for a wide range of OVA and television projects. These include the television series RUN=DIM from 2001, where he served as original creator, producer, and scriptwriter. He also held similar roles on OVAs such as Generation of Chaos from 2001, Generation of Chaos Next: Chikai no Pendant from 2002, and Generation of Chaos III: Toki no Fuuin from 2003. Other OVA credits as original creator or planner include Kingdom of Chaos: Born to Kill from 2003 to 2004, Tenkuu Danzai Skelter Heaven from 2004, Spectral Force Chronicle Divergence from 2005, and Hametsu no Mars from 2005. His production work is not limited to his own creations; he has also served as a producer on the television series Mamimume Mogacho from 2001.
Later in his career, Kuwana took on planning and assistance roles for television anime series produced by Idea Factory. These include planning assistance on Hiiro no Kakera: Tamayori Hime Kitan in 2012, Norn 9: Norn + Nonet in 2016, and work assistance on Nil Admirari no Tenbin in 2018. His extensive list of credits establishes him as a central figure in the production of anime based on Idea Factory's intellectual properties. Despite his significant production output, no published manga works have been attributed to him. His industry significance lies in his role as a key producer and creator who helped bridge the gap between video games and anime, directly overseeing the adaptation of numerous game franchises into animated formats during a formative period for multimedia franchising.
