Takeshi Kaga
Description
Takeshi Kaga is a Japanese stage and screen actor who has also performed voice roles in anime and animated films. Born on October 12, 1950, in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, his real name is Shigekatsu Katsuda. He is widely recognized internationally for his live-action role as the enigmatic Chairman Kaga on the television cooking show Iron Chef. His voice acting work represents a smaller facet of a prolific career primarily focused on film, television, and stage performances.
Kaga's voice acting credits include roles in several notable animated productions. He provided the voice for the character Gelarden in the 1999 Pokémon film, Phantom Pokémon Lugia's Explosive Birth, and also performed the character's image song. In 2005, he voiced the character Kiriko in the Black Jack film Black Jack: The Two Doctors Of Darkness. He later voiced Captain Razak in the 2016 anime film Sinbad: Night at High Noon and the Wonder Gate and its sequel, Sinbad: The Magic Lamp and the Moving Islands. Another significant voice role came in 2017 when he voiced Professor Tetsuhiro Shigemura in the animated film Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale.
As his primary career is in live-action performance, his body of voice acting work is limited and does not demonstrate recurring collaborations with specific anime directors, studios, or fellow voice actors in the way a full-time voice actor's might. His contributions to anime are therefore best understood as extensions of his broader acting career, bringing his distinct presence to these animated projects.
