XUSE

Description
Xuse is the name of a Japanese company that served as an original creator and developer for several anime and visual novel works, rather than an individual person. Operating primarily as an adult game maker, the company was established as a label of the affiliated corporation Use, with its name combining "Use" and the letter "X" to signify its adult-oriented content. Xuse was active from the late 1990s until its bankruptcy filing on May 30, 2021.

The company is best known for creating the visual novel Eien no Aseria: The Spirit of Eternity Sword, which was first released for Microsoft Windows in 2003. This title formed the basis for subsequent adaptations, including a port to the PlayStation 2 in 2005, a release for the PlayStation Portable in 2012, and a two-episode original video animation produced by Studio Matrix in 2005 and 2006. The OVA adaptation, for which Xuse is credited as the original creator, follows the story of a young man transported to a fantasy world where he must wield a mystical sword to protect his sister.

Beyond this flagship series, Xuse was credited as the original creator for several other anime productions in the early 2000s. These include the OVAs Kojin Taxi, Chikansha Thomas, and Shino-sensei no Yuuwaku Jugyou, all of which were based on the company's visual novel properties. As a developer and publisher, Xuse produced a wide catalog of visual novels, with titles such as S.N.O.W., Himekaribito, and its various Eien no Aselia expansions and sequels, including Seinarukana -The Spirit of Eternity Sword 2-.

Xuse operated under several different imprints, including Xuse Ginjou, Xuse Happou, Xuse Honjouzou, and Xuse Junmai, which were likely used to categorize different styles or lines of content. The company's significance in the industry lies in its role as a developer of fantasy and adventure visual novels during the 2000s, many of which were adapted into other media, establishing its name within the landscape of Japanese adult game creators and their associated anime productions.
