Junko Midori is a Japanese voice actor, also known by her birth name Yoshie Okamoto. She was born in Tokyo on January 1, 1933. Her career encompasses a wide range of roles in anime, video games, and dubbed performances for foreign films and television series.

Midori is known for portraying mature female characters, often in positions of authority or as mentors. She provided the voice for the character Tomi Kubo in the anime special The Sound of Waves. In the television series The Twins at St. Clare's, known in Japanese as Ochatame na Futago - Kurea Gakuin Monogatari, she voiced the role of the headmistress, Miss Theobald. Another significant role is that of Shishou, the master and mentor to the protagonist in the Kino's Journey franchise, including both the 2003 television series and the 2005 film Kino's Travels: Life Goes On.

Beyond these roles, Midori has an extensive list of credits in long-running and popular anime series. She was a recurring voice actor in the Naruto franchise, providing the voice of the elder Koharu Utatane in Naruto, Naruto Shippūden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Her other anime credits include roles in Mushishi as Shirasawa, Strike Witches as Yoshiko Akimoto, The Snow Queen as Matilda, and Real Drive as Yoko Aoi.

Her work also extended significantly into voice-over for foreign media. She dubbed the voice of numerous actresses for Japanese releases of American and European films and television dramas. These include providing the Japanese voice for Max in the Mission: Impossible films and for Miss Felicity Lemon in the Agatha Christie series featuring Hercule Poirot.

Throughout her career, Midori was affiliated with the talent management firm Production Baobab. Her performances, particularly in long-standing series like Naruto, have made her a familiar presence in the anime industry for decades.
