Alejandro Mayen
Description
Alejandro Mayen is a Mexican voice actor and dubbing director with a lengthy career in the Latin American Spanish dubbing industry, known for his work in both animation and live-action productions. His involvement in anime, while part of a broader portfolio, includes several notable credits in films and series dubbed in Mexico.
Mayen has contributed his voice to a variety of anime titles. He is the voice of Pod in the Mexican Spanish dub of the Studio Ghibli film The Secret World of Arrietty. His other work in Ghibli films includes providing the narration and the voice of the King's double in Howl's Moving Castle. He also voiced the character of Hiroshi Sosoda in the series Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan. For this particular dub, Mayen was noted as being one of the few seasoned industry veterans among a cast that primarily consisted of newcomers. His other anime roles include the Older Brother in the original video animation Coicent, Mogi in Death Note, Shiroganehiko in Bleach, the narrator for the Mexican dub of My Neighbor Totoro, and Luchist Lasso in the 2001 Shaman King series. His work also extends to dubbing in animated series from other countries, such as being the first voice of Mr. Dupette in the Latin American Spanish dub of the Nickelodeon series Rocko's Modern Life, a role he later reprised decades later for the Netflix film Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling.
Beyond his on-screen roles, Mayen has also worked extensively behind the scenes as a dubbing director. His directing credits for Spanish-language versions include the Studio Ghibli film Howl's Moving Castle, the anime series Toriko, and several live-action films in the Transformers series. He is recognized as a prominent figure in Mexican dubbing, with a career spanning over 35 years, and his voice is widely associated with characters such as Peter Griffin in Family Guy and Hal in Malcolm in the Middle. His status in the industry was further highlighted by his participation in a WonderCon panel focused on the Spanish-language dubbing of the long-running series Supernatural, in which he voiced the character Castiel.
