Francis Lax was a French actor and a major figure in the world of dubbing, known for his distinctive and versatile voice. Born in Paris on April 16, 1930, he passed away in the same city on March 13, 2013, at the age of 82. While his career encompassed live-action roles in film, television, and theatre, he became particularly renowned for his extensive voice work.
Lax was the regular French voice for numerous international stars, including Harrison Ford, Gene Hackman, Tom Selleck, David Soul, and Chuck Norris. In animation, he was widely recognized for characters such as Sammy Rogers in Scooby-Doo, Volavoile in Satanas et Diabolo, and multiple Smurfs in Les Schtroumpfs.
His contributions to anime dubbing were substantial. His voice can be heard in the French versions of many Japanese series and films. He voiced the role of Dracula in the television special One-Million Year Trip: Bander Book, as well as the role of President Vidor in the same production. In the series Idol Densetsu Eriko, he took on multiple roles, including those of Coltan, the narrator, and the character of Randon, Erika's father.
