Robert O. Smith was an American voice actor, active in the industry from the early 1970s until his death in 2010. He was known for his extensive work in anime dubbing, particularly for productions recorded in Vancouver, British Columbia, with Ocean Productions. Smith was born on November 27, 1942, and passed away on May 30, 2010, due to pancreatic and liver cancer.

Smith's career was heavily focused on providing English voices for anime series and films during the height of the anime boom in North America. He is perhaps best known for his role as the panda-transforming Genma Saotome in the beloved series Ranma ½, a part in which he also voiced the character Sasuke Sarugakure. His filmography includes a wide array of characters in both dubbing and original English animation.

In anime, Smith's notable roles included Dr. Watson in the 1986 OVA The Humanoid, Burei Karima in The Ultimate Teacher, and the character D in the Project A-ko film series, specifically in Project A-ko 2: Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group, Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody, and Project A-ko 4: Final. He also lent his voice to Sgt. Masao Goto in Kishin Corps. His other voice work in anime spanned major franchises, including the Ocean dubs of the Dragon Ball series as the elder Guru and the elder Moori, various Fatal Fury titles as Raiden, Cheng Sinzan, and Big Bear, and the role of the swordsmith Kaijinbō in Inuyasha. He also appeared in Maison Ikkoku, MegaMan NT Warrior Axess, and Transformers: Cybertron.

Beyond anime, Smith's voice could be heard in western animated series such as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (the DiC version), where he voiced Grunt and Wet-Suit, as well as in Pocket Dragon Adventures, Billy the Cat, and The Fearless Four. He also contributed voices to video games, including The Movies and Hulk.
