Tanya Hancheroff
Description
Tanya Hancheroff is a Canadian vocalist and voice actor known for her work in English-language dubs of anime and for her extensive career as a session singer and live performer. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, she is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. Her professional skills also include songwriting and vocal coaching.
Hancheroff is primarily recognized in anime for providing the singing voice for the character Akane Tendo. She performed this role for the English version of the Ranma ½ OVA series and the movie Team Ranma vs. The Legendary Phoenix. As the singing voice for Akane, she was also a member of DoCo U.S.A., the English-language counterpart to the Japanese voice-actress pop group formed within the Ranma ½ franchise. The group, which included fellow Vancouver-based actresses Rose Hastreiter, Saffron Henderson, Willow Johnson, and Cathy Weseluck, performed character songs for the series. Beyond her role as Akane, her anime credits include providing the singing voice for the character Siu Seen in the English version of the 1997 animated film Xiao Qian, also known as A Chinese Ghost Story. She also performed the opening theme song for the animated series Billy the Cat.
