Karl Sturm was a German actor and voice actor, born on January 22, 1935. He began his career on stage in the mid-1950s, with early engagements at theaters such as the Kammerspiele in Magdeburg. His on-screen acting career included numerous roles in German film and television productions from the late 1950s onward, with appearances in series like Der Staatsanwalt hat das Wort, Polizeiruf 110, and Der Landarzt. However, he became best known for his extensive work as a voice actor, a profession he pursued from 1958.

Sturm's voice was heard in a wide array of German dubs for international films and television series. He was particularly renowned in East Germany as the regular German dubbing voice for the popular Yugoslav actor Gojko Mitić, who starred in many Western films. After German reunification, he remained active in dubbing, lending his voice to actors such as Richard Anderson, Bernard Fox, and Christopher Lloyd. His work also extended to animation, where he was the voice of Owl in the German dubs of Winnie the Pooh productions like Tiggers großes Abenteuer.

In the realm of anime, Sturm contributed his voice to the German-language version of the series Rumiko Takahashi Anthology. In this series, he voiced the character Ichiro Tadokoro in the episode titled Lovesong im Wohnzimmer. His other anime voice work included providing the German voice for the character of the actor Ichirou Nagai.

Throughout his career, Sturm was known for his vocal versatility, speaking both German and Polish and being able to perform in dialects such as Berlinerisch and East Prussian, as well as German with Polish or Russian accents. He was married and his daughter, Victoria Sturm, also became an actress and voice actress. Karl Sturm passed away on September 28, 2017, at the age of 82 in Birkenwerder, Germany.
