Caroline Lesley is an American-Canadian actor with a extensive career in voice acting, as well as work in television, film, and comedy. Born in Toronto, Canada on July 14, 1978, she developed a passion for performing from a young age and went on to graduate with honors from the prestigious Ryerson University's Theatre School in Toronto, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her classical training included playing the role of Queen Isabella in a production of Richard II directed by John Neville. Following her time at Ryerson, Lesley continued to hone her comedic skills at renowned institutions, including the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City and The Groundlings comedy theater in West Hollywood.
Lesley's voice acting career began in earnest shortly after she left theater school, with her quickly landing work in radio and television commercials. Her work in animation includes providing the English voice for the character Kam Kamazaki, an evil boy genius and main antagonist in the anime television series Medarot Damashii, which aired on Fox Kids and YTV. Kam Kamazaki is known as Kokuryuu Kamizake in the original Japanese version. Beyond anime, Lesley has lent her voice to other animated projects, such as the lead role of Lidda in the Dungeons & Dragons animated movie Scourge of Worlds.
In addition to her scripted voice work, Lesley's vocal talents have been featured in other media. She was the sultry intermission voice for the popular basketball podcast The Basketball Jones, which later became known as The Starters. Her career is marked by a strong foundation in comedy and improvisation, which has informed her performance style across various mediums. She has performed her own one-woman show, Doppelganger Joe, at the New York International Fringe Festival and has written and performed sketch comedy videos for platforms like Funny or Die.
Lesley's work extends far beyond voice acting. She has appeared in live-action roles, most notably in the critically acclaimed film Fruitvale Station, which won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Her television credits include appearances on series such as Soul Food, As the World Turns, and The Onion News Network.
