Luca Ernesto Mellina

Luca Ernesto Mellina, sometimes credited as Sergio Mellina, was an Italian voice actor active from the 1960s into the 2000s. Born in Bologna on September 13, 1932, he trained in theater under Pietro Sharoff and in radio and film dubbing with Renato Cominetti. His career was closely associated with dubbing companies including O.D.I., A.R.S., and particularly SINC Cinematografia, the company run by fellow actor and dubbing director Mimmo Palmara.
Mellina's voice work encompassed both live-action film and animation. In anime, he is known for providing the Italian voice for the character Professore in the series Science Fiction Saiyuki Starzinger. He also voiced the character Duca di Melville in another anime series, Wakakusa no Charlotte. Beyond these roles, he was the first Italian voice of George Jetson, known as Chicco Jetson in Italian, in the Hanna-Barbera animated series The Jetsons.
His extensive career in dubbing included lending his voice to numerous international actors in Italian versions of films. Among these were Rod Steiger in Specchio per le allodole, Dirk Bogarde in C.I.A. Criminal International Agency - Sezione Sterminio, and Trevor Howard. He also participated in dubbing several classic Japanese films, including the works of Akira Kurosawa. Mellina voiced Kamatari Fujiwara in The Hidden Fortress, Seiji Miyaguchi in a re-dubbing of Seven Samurai, and Eijirō Tōno in a re-dubbing of The Challenge of the Samurai. He frequently dubbed actor Salvatore Furnari in a series of peplum films from the early 1960s, including Vulcan, Son of Jupiter and Hercules and the Conquest of Atlantis.
