Takeaki Momose

Description
Takeaki Momose is a Japanese manga artist born on November 18, 1970. He is best known as the original creator behind the manga and anime series Miami Guns. His professional career as a creator is defined primarily by his work on original manga series and his adaptations of existing properties.

Momose made his debut as a manga author with Miami Guns, which was serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine Special from 1997 to 1999. The series, a comedic action story centered on two female police officers in a fictional Japanese city named Miami, was compiled into four tankobon volumes. Its popularity led to a 13-episode anime television adaptation produced by Group TAC, which aired from February to May 2000. In this capacity, Momose is credited as the original creator, providing the foundational story and characters for the animated version.

Following the success of Miami Guns, Momose became known for adapting the acclaimed mecha anime RahXephon into a manga series. This adaptation, which was based on the original story by Yutaka Izubuchi and the animation studio BONES, was published in Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X.

In addition to adaptations, Momose continued to create original serialized works. From 2003 to 2008, he wrote and illustrated Magikano, a romantic comedy manga about a boy from a family of witches. The series ran in Kodansha’s Monthly Magazine Z and was compiled into ten volumes. His later original works include the supernatural comedy Kami Sen, which was serialized in Fujimi Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age from 2009 to 2011, as well as Nisemono Tenshi and Matome x Saito!.
