Robert Morse

Description
Robert Morse was an acclaimed American actor whose career in television, film, and theatre included a number of voice roles in animated productions. While he is not primarily known as an anime voice actor, he is associated with the medium through his performance in a 1978 animated Christmas special that is considered an anime in some sources. This special, titled Machi Ichiban no Kechinbo in Japan, is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. In it, Morse provided the voice for the younger version of the protagonist, Ebenezer Scrooge. The production was a collaboration between the American studio Rankin/Bass and the Japanese animation studio Topcraft, and it was broadcast in Japan on Christmas Eve of 1978, leading to its classification as an anime.

Beyond this specific role, Morse lent his voice to a wide array of characters in American animated series throughout his career. His voice credits include roles in popular shows such as The Legend of Korra, where he voiced a governor, as well as Superman: The Animated Series, Teen Titans Go!, Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys, and Tiny Toon Adventures. His work in animation also extended to several Rankin/Bass holiday specials, most notably providing the voice of the title character in the stop-motion program Jack Frost.

Morse was widely recognized for his live-action performances, earning Tony Awards for his work on stage and a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in the television series Mad Men. His contributions to voice acting, while not the primary focus of his career, added to a diverse and extensive body of work that spanned several decades until his passing in 2022 at the age of 90.
