Sonny Melendrez is an American voice actor, radio and television personality, and motivational speaker with a career spanning several decades. He was born in 1946 and began developing his skill for creating character voices as a teenager. His voice work is one facet of a diverse career that has also seen him host shows on major radio stations like KIIS and KMPC in Los Angeles, as well as the Disney Channel children's series You and Me, Kid.

One of Melendrez's notable voice roles is Bob Cratchit in the 1978 animated television special The Stingiest Man in Town. In this musical adaptation of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, he provided the voice for the put-upon clerk opposite Walter Matthau's Ebenezer Scrooge. The special, produced by Rankin/Bass, is known to have been broadcast in Japan under the title Machi Ichiban no Kechinbo.

Beyond this role, Melendrez has contributed his voice to a wide range of projects. He provided voices for several characters in the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series The Jetsons. His film work includes creating many of the vocal sounds for the creatures in the 1984 movie Gremlins. He also voiced the character Pippin in the 1980 animated film The Return of the King, and Sir Ravenal Rightfellow in the 1979 Rankin/Bass special Jack Frost. On television, he was the voice of the cockatoo named Fred in the 1970s series Baretta. His extensive voice work has led to him being described as a man of a thousand voices.

In addition to his performance credits, Melendrez received a Grammy nomination for Best Children's Recording for creating a children's version of the song We Are the World in 1985. His achievements in broadcasting have been recognized with inductions into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame and inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as one of the top 100 radio personalities of all time.
