Teresa Madruga is a highly accomplished Portuguese actress whose career spans several decades, with significant contributions to theatre, film, and television. She is also widely recognized for her extensive voice work in the European Portuguese dubbing of numerous animated series and films.

Born on March 18, 1953, on the island of Faial in the Azores, Madruga graduated in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon before making her stage debut as an actress in 1976. Her career in voice acting is substantial, having provided voices for over eighty animated productions. She is considered one of the pioneering voice actors in Portugal.

Within the realm of anime and animation, Madruga has brought to life a variety of characters. She voiced the character Elisa in the Portuguese dub of the Japanese animated series Mori no Tonto-tachi. While her roles in Adventures of Puss-in-Boots as Ana and in Blue Blink as Cláudio Santiago are noted, she is perhaps best known in the animation world for her work in two highly popular franchises. She was the original Portuguese voice of the villain Rita Repulsa in the live-action series Power Rangers. She is also famed for her role in the Pokémon anime, where she was one of the original voice actors for the European Portuguese dub. In this series, she notably voiced the character Jessie, a member of the villainous Team Rocket, as well as Officer Jenny and Delia Ketchum in the early episodes and the first two movies. Her portrayal of Jessie was particularly noted for its distinctive "mean and powerful voice". Her involvement with the Pokémon dub was intermittent, with periods where she left and later returned to voice her characters before departing again prior to the Johto League Champions season.

Beyond voice acting, Madruga's broader career is marked by numerous accolades. She received the Prémio Garret for her theatre work in 1988 and won the award for Best Actress at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival for her role in the film D' Après Maria. Her leading role in the Swiss film Dans la Ville Blanche brought her international recognition. Her live-action filmography includes work with acclaimed directors such as Manoel de Oliveira and appearances alongside actors like Marcello Mastroianni in the film Afirma Pereira.
