John Vickery is an American stage and film actor whose career encompasses extensive work in theater, television, and voice acting for animation and video games. He was born on November 4, 1950, in Alameda, California, and initially pursued a degree in mathematics at the University of California at Davis before training in acting at the Drama Studio London. His voice acting career includes notable roles in English-language adaptations of Japanese anime and other media.
Vickery is best known in the anime community for providing the voice of the protagonist, Kenshiro, in the 1986 theatrical film adaptation of Fist of the North Star. In this Streamline Pictures production, he voiced the role of the master of Hokuto Shinken in a post-apocalyptic world. His other significant anime voice role was Teknoman Dagger in the English adaptation of the series Tekkaman Blade.
Beyond anime, Vickery's voice work spans other genres and formats. He voiced the character Legolas in the 1979 radio adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. In the video game realm, he portrayed the voice of Lucifer, the main antagonist, in the 2010 game Dante's Inferno.
