Silton Cardoso

Description
Silton Cardoso was a Brazilian actor and voice actor, born in Minas Gerais on November 28, 1938. He passed away on July 5, 2014, in São Paulo. While he had a career in theater, he became widely recognized for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly for television series and films.

In the realm of anime and animation, Cardoso contributed his voice to several projects. He is credited with the role of Ringo in the Brazilian dubbing of the anime OVA Leda - The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko, known in Portuguese as As Aventuras de Leda. Additionally, his anime dubbing work included providing voices for characters in the film Vampire Hunter D, where he voiced both Conde Magnus Lee and the Left Hand of D.

Despite these roles, Cardoso's most prominent and enduring legacy in dubbing was for live-action series. He was the first and most recognized Brazilian voice for the character Godinez, played by Mexican actor Horácio Gómez Bolaños, in the popular sitcoms Chaves (El Chavo del Ocho) and Chapolin (El Chapulín Colorado). He voiced Godinez and other characters portrayed by the same actor for many years. After a period away from dubbing due to personal matters, he returned in 2012 to reprise the role of Godinez for newly dubbed episodes of Chaves, which were broadcast in early 2014. His final works in dubbing were completed during this period.
