Asami Mukaidono, also known by the Japanese spelling 向殿あさみ (Mukaidono Asami), is a veteran Japanese voice actress from Tokyo, born on December 9, 1954. She is affiliated with the talent management firm Osawa Jimusho. Mukaidono has been active in the anime industry since at least the late 1970s, building a substantial portfolio of voice roles throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. Her work is primarily concentrated in this period, featuring in a wide range of television series and original video animations. One of her notable early roles includes providing the voice for Shō Asuka in the second season of the anime series Superbook in 1983. That same year, she voiced the character Jacky Frank in the mecha anime Special Armored Battalion Dorvack. In 1982, she took on the role of Shōsuke Yamada in Ai no Senshi Rainbowman. Mukaidono is perhaps best recognized for her recurring portrayal of Miss Ayumi, also known as Ayumi Azuchi, across the Project A-ko film series. She first voiced the character in the original 1986 film and reprised the role in its sequels, including Project A-ko 2: Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group (1987), Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody (1988), and Project A-ko 4: Final (1989). She also contributed to the fantasy genre, voicing characters in films like Wicked City (1987) and Demon City Shinjuku (1988). Her other prominent television roles include Lily Hasshi in Heavy Metal L-Gaim (1984), Molly and Janet Carmichael in Princess Sarah (1985), and the character Xihuan in the series Kung Fu Boy Chinmi (1988). Her career also includes guest roles in classic series such as Anne of Green Gables (1979).
