Yoshihiko Akaida
Description
Yoshihiko Akaida is a retired Japanese voice actor from Osaka Prefecture, born on April 8. His debut role was as Sojiro Nishikado, a member of the F4 group, in the 1996 anime adaptation of the popular shoujo series Boys Over Flowers. He would reprise this role for the 1997 theatrical film. He was active in the anime industry from the mid-1990s until the mid-2000s.
Akaida was affiliated with the talent agency Toei Academy. His career is characterized by a wide range of supporting and recurring roles in numerous television anime series produced during this period. Beyond his debut, he was a consistent presence in the Ojamajo Doremi series, voicing the recurring character of the Vice Principal (referred to as Kyotou-sensei) across multiple iterations, including the original 1999 series, its sequels Mōtto! Ojamajo Doremi and Ojamajo Doremi Dokkān, and the 2004 OVA Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho. In the 1999 version of Hunter x Hunter, he provided voices for two distinct characters: the third-phase examiner Lippo and the Heaven's Arena fighter Riehlvelt.
His filmography also includes the 1998 series Himitsu no Akko-chan, where he voiced the character Gyoro, as well as roles in Cutie Honey F, Kindaichi Case Files, and Yume no Crayon Oukoku, in which he played multiple characters such as Nobiruja and the Black Minister. This tendency to play several roles within a single production highlights his versatility and vocal range. He also made occasional appearances in live-action television dramas, with credits including Tuesday Suspense Theater and Monday Drama Special in the late 1990s. Akaida appears to have retired from voice work around 2004, with no new acting roles documented after this period.
