Tamio Kageyama was a Japanese writer and creative artist, born in Tokyo on March 20, 1947. He died on January 27, 1998. His career spanned multiple forms of media, and he is recognized as the original creator behind several works that were adapted into anime and manga.
Kageyama is credited as the original creator for the 1993 anime film Coo: Tōi Umi kara Kita Coo, a role that establishes him as the source material’s author. In the realm of publishing, he is known for the Trouble Buster series, which began as a novel. The success of this property led to a manga adaptation, also titled Trouble Buster, which was published by Dōbunshoin and released on March 28, 1996. The series further expanded to include a film adaptation, with Kageyama receiving credit for Sasurai no Troublebuster in 1996. Another of his original works, Kageyama Tamio no Double Fantasy, was also adapted as a television project in 1994.
Beyond his behind-the-scenes work as a writer and creator, Kageyama maintained a visible public presence. He was known to have frequently appeared as a panelist on the popular cooking television series Iron Chef. His career also included work as an actor, and he was credited for the 1992 film Sakana kara daiokishin!!. Kageyama died in a house fire at the age of 50.
