Robert Mandell
Description
Robert Mandell is an American animated series and film writer, director, and producer. He is best known as the creator, producer, and co-writer of the 1986 to 1987 animated series The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers. This series is notable for combining science fiction stories with traditional Wild West themes and is recognized as one of the first anime-style shows produced mainly in the United States, with animation provided by the Japanese studio Tokyo Movie Shinsha. Following this success, Mandell created the 1995 to 1996 animated series Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders, for which he wrote, co-wrote, and directed episodes. Beyond his original creations, his career includes work as a writer and executive producer for the American version of Thunderbirds 2086, as well as an executive producer for animated adaptations of The King and I and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Mandell has headed several production companies, including New Frontier Entertainment and Red Sky Entertainment, and has served as the Chief Creative Officer and CEO of Red Sky Entertainment. His later projects have included producing a television series and a two-volume manga adaptation based on Larry Niven's novel Ringworld, demonstrating his ongoing involvement in adapting literary science fiction into the manga format.
