Keith Hampshire

Description
Keith Hampshire is an English-born Canadian singer and actor whose career in entertainment spans several decades, including a substantial body of voice acting work in animated television series and films. His voice acting career, which began in the early 1970s and continued into the 2000s, primarily consisted of roles in Canadian-produced animation.

Hampshire's early voice work included providing additional voices for the series Festival of Family Classics in the early 1970s. Throughout the 1980s, he became more active in the field, with roles in several notable animated productions. He was part of the voice cast for the animated feature film Rock & Rule, voicing Other Computers, and for Madballs: Escape from Orb! as Hornhead. He voiced the characters Mad Hatter and Jabberwocky in The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland, and had recurring roles in The Care Bears Family as Mr. Dragon, Shakey the Sea Serpent, and Songfellow Strum. His other credits from this decade include additional voices for the series Beetlejuice and Babar.

His voice acting continued into the 1990s with roles such as a mouse, a guard, and other characters in the film The Nutcracker Prince, and as Pig One in the series The Raccoons. He also contributed additional voices for the English versions of The Adventures of Tintin and The Busy World of Richard Scarry. In 2001, Hampshire voiced the character Mayor Papazoni, an elephant known for his long and boring speeches, in the Japanese-Canadian animated series Pecola. This is one of his few named, recurring roles in a series and is a notable credit from the later period of his voice acting career.

Hampshire's voice acting roles were frequently with productions from major Canadian animation studios, and he often worked alongside a consistent group of Canadian voice actors. His contributions to the industry are part of a broader career that includes significant achievements as a pop singer in Canada, where he earned a Juno Award nomination and had several top-ten hits. His transition from music to acting allowed him to apply his vocal talents to a wide range of characters in animation for over three decades.
